These earrings are handmade by our goldsmiths, using ancient Roman marble, green porphyry from Greece, called by the ancient Roman marble workers "Serpentino". These fragments come from coatings of Emperors villas , where they were used to embellish floors and walls.The Green Porphyry , or "Serpentino", is a marble with irregular spots of light green or yellow color; its quarries were on the Sparta road. In Rome the Serpentino was already used in the Augustan age and, with the last of the Flavi emperors, became imperial property. This marble was considered of great value and was very popular and appreciated.
